I'm Ray. I just wanted to leave a short message to introduce myself and say hello to everyone.
I was involved with various RPGs from 2004 - 2008, when my various restraints and complications led me toward a hiatus from 2008 until right now. So it's been awhile. I know that I'm rusty, and I ask that you please bear with me. I already know that you're going to have to watch out for god moding. I'm a writer (not professionally) and I've gotten very used to working by myself, not collaboratively, and doing whatever I want. I'm also an aggressive person by nature, so that doesn't help.
Because I am aware of these tendencies in myself it's easier for me to watch out for them myself, but another one of my characteristics is that I can be forgetful when I become excited, and I'm easily excitable. I had someone once describe me as a barreling train. That was years ago, but I remember it because I thought it was an accurate image. The only thing I would have added was benevolent. I'm a benevolent barreling train; I don't mean to run anyone over or cause anyone any harm.
Obviously I have a very direct communication style. This is what I use, and also what I respond best to. I don't always pick up on hints and subtleties. I wish I did. I'd probably be a lot more graceful and tactful and less train-like. But I'm not, and it's in your best interest if there's something you would like me to know to just say it to me plain as day.
I'm also a bit of a windbag, as is also obvious from this post. My IC posts will probably be long. I don't expect those that I'm role-playing with to have equally long posts, and I never want anyone to feel bad about not writing more. I bring these things up because I've had problems with them in the past. It doesn't bother me. If it bothers you, that's a separate issue. I can attempt to shorten my posts, but if this problem arises it's probably best if our characters just don't interact much.
...And I think that just about covers it.
