El's smile widened, There's really no such thing as good or bad. There is just... is. That was an odd way to say it but at the moment El couldn't think of any bettwer words. She moved to scratch between Kahja's shoulderblades before continuing. Good and bad are just our ways of classifying things against and to us. El couldn't say more to his parents' teachings. In a way, that sort of thinking worked unless you were aiming for some long-term goal. But she could say something else to it. Winning is good but you don't need to die during a training exercise or a small test. Her face became serious, Especially when your oppenent is your ally.

Dire sighed. The older elf made good points. Death was not something he liked either. "I guess you're right. It's all still part of me though. I can't change who I am, or at least not quickly," he said. He set a goal for himself then. To become less like a dark elf and more like a good one.

El gave the youngster a reassuring look before jumping up to her feet, slightly moving the branch while her feline companion followed. Well at least you know, now its your turn to decide whether you want to use that knowledge. With that she jumped from the branch to an even higher limb. Now I don't know about you but I know I also think better when I'm doing something. She smiled, looking down at the boy, So how 'bout it? I'll follow your lead this time.
She noted how he didn't look nearly so depressed and took it as a good sign. There was a saying that said, dark feeling fuel the dark hearts; or more simply put, negative emotions feed dark magic. At least thats what she remembered what an old friend of hers once told her.

Dire smiled and hoped up after her. He looked around a second before takng off on a path perpendicular to the one they had been on earlier. He wanted to make a turn and end up back at the river. "Let's go this way," he called behind him.

Elswyer laughed softly, already excited to see where the apprentice would lead her. With a quick hop, she followed with an unnatural grace. Kahja let out yet another of her meow/roars, and followed with her more natural feline grace. Alright then, lead on. She called ahead as she came up closely on his trail.

Dire quickened the pace a little. He was not gonna get shown up on this. He then started to make the turn towards the river. It was supposed to be a pretty round turn, but he did it in only about a minute. It was more like an attempt at round with a frustrated turn coming out of it. Of course, he was no longer frustrated.

El grinned slightly when she saw the younger elf try to speed himself up. So he was a competitor eh? Well then...
She bundled the muscles in her legs to access the smoother, more simpiler jumps that allowed her to just about glide. A physical skill she learned from way back when when she was hunting birds for a meal and she could never catch the freakin' little buggers. At the round-about, Elswyer just nearly flung against the trunks to turn with a smoothness the boy obviously lacked. Their destination, she predicted, was the river where they first met. He must've really like water.

Dire could feel the older elf cathcing up to him. He didn't want to be the second one there. He stopped focusing on the destination and tried to be faster. THe river was closer than he thought, and he dropped out of the sky for the second time that day.
